1. How we make money

We do not charge readers, and we do not put our reviews behind a paywall. The site is paid for in the following ways:

• Affiliate commissions. We participate in affiliate programs run by retailers, brands and affiliate networks. When you follow a link from our site and complete a purchase, we may receive a commission on that sale.
• Advertising. We may be paid for advertising placements, sponsored placements, or per-click compensation on certain links.
• Products supplied for review. In some cases a brand provides a product at no charge, or at a discount, so that we can test it. We keep no obligation to publish a positive review in return.

You never pay more because of us. Commissions are paid by the merchant out of their own margin. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had gone to that merchant directly.

2. What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link with a tracking code attached. The code tells the merchant that you arrived from BestTechTrend, so that any resulting sale can be credited to us.

You should assume that any outbound link to a product, retailer or brand on this site is an affiliate link, including links inside review articles, ranking pages, comparison tables, buttons, banners, images and product names. Where a link is not commercial — for example a link to a manufacturer’s support page, a safety notice or a news source — it earns us nothing.

3. How this affects our reviews

We think readers deserve a straight answer here rather than a slogan, so there are two parts to it.

What compensation does not do

• It does not buy a score, a rating or a position in a ranking.
• It does not buy a positive verdict, and no brand is given approval over what we publish before it goes live.
• It does not stop us reporting a fault, a weak result or a poor value proposition.

What compensation does do

It influences what we cover. Like most review sites, we tend to spend our time on product categories that have affiliate programs behind them, because that is what sustains the site. So the honest position is this: a commercial relationship can affect whether a product appears here at all, but it does not affect what we say about it once it does.

4. How we get the products we test

Products reviewed on this site are purchased by us or otherwise acquired for testing, including samples supplied by a brand or its agency. Our review process is applied the same way in either case.

Where we have not been able to test a product first-hand and a review is based on manufacturer specifications, published documentation and customer feedback rather than our own hands-on use, we do not present it as a hands-on test.

5. Testimonials and results

Some pages carry testimonials, user quotes or before-and-after style claims. The following applies to all of them.

1. Results vary, and are not typical. Where a testimonial describes a particularly good outcome, you should assume that outcome is the exception rather than the rule. You should not expect to match it, and you should not assume you will get any particular result at all.
2. Opinions are not verified. Where a testimonial is a statement of personal opinion, we do not independently verify it. We publish it in the good-faith belief that it is an honest opinion honestly held.
3. Manufacturer claims belong to the manufacturer. Performance figures, coverage areas, battery life, savings estimates and similar numbers are frequently supplied by the brand. Where we repeat such a figure we attribute it, and repeating it is not our endorsement of it.
4. Ask us for the basis. If you want to know what a specific claim on this site is based on, email [email protected] and we will tell you.

6. Reader comments and third-party posts

Comments and statements posted by readers or other third parties are their own. We do not independently verify them, and publishing a comment is not an endorsement of what it says. As above, if a comment reports an unusually good result, treat that result as the exception rather than the rule.

7. Prices, discounts and availability

Prices, discount codes, bundles, stock levels and promotional offers change frequently and often without notice. Anything of that kind mentioned on this site was accurate to the best of our knowledge when written and may not be accurate now.

The merchant’s own checkout page is the only authoritative source for what you will be charged, what is included, and what the delivery and return terms are. Please read it before you buy.

8. We are not the seller

BestTechTrend is an independent review and comparison site. We do not manufacture, sell, stock, ship, bill for or service any of the products we write about. When you click through and buy, you are entering into a transaction with that merchant, on their terms, and not with us.

This means we cannot help with orders, tracking, returns, refunds, warranties or technical support — those are handled by the seller. Our contact page explains how to reach the right company quickly.

9. No professional advice

Our content is general consumer information and nothing more. It is not medical, health, safety, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation.

This matters particularly for categories we cover that touch on health, comfort, electrical installation or energy consumption. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety warnings, and consult an appropriate professional where your circumstances call for it.
